So you can Blast Off to Success in your Business and Life All Year Long!

1. Start drinking. The creative juices, that is. Guess what? Digital media isn’t going anywhere. To get the most from your online campaigns and viral efforts,
you better spike that drink with some inspiring liquids because your potential clients are asking for your wisdom and expertise.

2. Expand your belt. People continually battle their ever-expanding waistlines, starting fitness regimens that often fizzle in a week. Yet, when it comes to growing your business, its smart to work on expanding your tool belt on a regular basis. The business market is changing rapidly so it is crucial to stay on top of what’s new, what’s hot, what’s working and what’s not.

3. Light up. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Add public relations to your mix to keep things hot, hot. Once the heat cools down, it’s hard to sustain momentum and word-of-mouth about anything. Knowing when and how to keep the fire going will keep you business simmering and glimmering all year long.

4. Spend. Spend. Spend. Time, that is…Spend time mapping out your goals and your plan for 2012. The more deliberate you are toward your Big Picture Vision, the more successful your year will be.

5. Jump off the ledge. To be successful in business, or in anything for that matter, you must jump in with both feet. Go for it full-on! Testing the waters means you are half way in and half way out, which won’t get you very far. To be successful you need to be 100% committed.

6. Stop being selfish. If you have an idea inside of you, the world is waiting for its debut. Your special gifts, passions and talents are your keys to abundance and the powerful remedy that many others need from you. If you are keeping your gifts to yourself, then those that need you, your products and services are missing out.

7. Dump your bucket. Start creating and living your Bucket List now. Don’t wait until you are at death’s door. Your life is what you make of it right now, not in the future. Make a list of all the things you want to do during your lifetime, and check the first one off the list in January 2012. No time like the present!

8. Let go. Did you know that hanging on takes much more effort and energy then letting go? Staying angry or resentful at past grievances will keep you lingering in the past. To move forward and make this year your best ever, write a letter stating what you want to release from your past. Also, write what lessons you have learned from this experience and what positive twist you can take from it to feel lighter into the New Year. Do a visualization meditation of these old feelings dissolving into thin air. (I recommend burning or shredding the letter to release this old energy completely.)

9. Spend five FEWER minutes each day worrying about your burdens. Worrying is a senseless activity and a complete waste of your energy. It changes NOTHING.

10. Get Gracious. Nothing will change your mood and outlook like taking a moment to close your eyes and inhale all the beautiful qualities of your life. (loved ones, opportunities, fulfilling business, memories, connections, experiences..) ‘Get Gracious’ as much as possible, and then pay it forward. It will come back to you 100 fold.

There is absolutely no comparison between trying to create success on your own, and having a powerful mentor guiding you all along the way. I have built 9 very successful businesses that have been completely fulfilling and made a dramatic life-altering difference in people’s lives. I live my true calling every single day and I love it. And, I could not have done it without the amazing mentors in my life.

I met Lynn on Twitter a few years ago and it literally changed both of our lives. She launched my book, Blast Off to No. 1 and it inspired her to build Spirit Authors, the most comprehensive resource for spiritual authors around the world.

My friend and colleague, Lynn Serafinn, has just published her new book The 7 Graces of Marketing: how to heal humanity and the planet by changing the way we sell. The ideas she presents in this 400+ page book are a call to action, not only to business owners and marketers, but to everyone one of us as a consumer. I’m very excited about her book, and about her new paradigm “The 7 Graces of Marketing”. Today, I asked Lynn to give us a short overview of “The 7 Graces”, and how they pertain not only tobusiness and marketing, but also to life in general. This will be a whirlwind tour of these ideas (after all, the book is over 400 pages long), but I think you will get a taste for what they’re about, and hopefully think of ways to apply them in your own business and life.

* * * * *

Lynn’s sneak peek into the 7 Graces paradigm:

Grace #1: Connection

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Disconnection”. Connection is at the foundation of everything in life—Connection to Self, Source, others, our businesses, and our audience—determine how effectively and authentically we communicate and conduct our lives. When business owners are disconnected from Self, their businesses cannot be genuine representations of who they are. And the problem is, as businesses get bigger and bigger, that Connection becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. When business owners are not connected to Source and others, it opens to door to exploitation of both natural resources and people. Connection is the first of the 7 Graces, because without it the other Graces cannot manifest.

Grace #2: Inspiration

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Persuasion”. The literal meaning of the word “Inspiration” means “to breathe life into”. As business owners, we have a choice to be “life giving” to our audience or “life robbing”. Persuasion, wherein we will do anything

and everything to make a sale/profit, is life robbing. As business owners, it is our responsibility to “feed” society, and thus ensure not only that our products and services are life-giving, but also that our communications (marketing) is life-giving. For marketing to be filled with the “Grace of Inspiration”, it should never incite fear, anxiety or feelings of inadequacy.

Grace #3: Invitation

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Invasion”. Nearly every form of marketing we see today is invasive. Our attention span is continually interrupted, whether it is through television/radio adverts, pop up messages, uninvited email adverts, cold-calling

or billboards. As business owners and marketers, we need to bring back the “Grace of Invitation” into our communications. This means that when visitors come into our “space” (our website, our office/shop), we treat them like respected guests, offering them

hospitality and generosity. Conversely, when we come into our customers’ space (as when we send out emails), we must do so with courtesy and care, ensuring we never become the dreaded “houseguest from hell”.

Grace #4: Directness

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Distraction”. So much modern advertising depends upon Distraction to seize and maintain our attention. Nearly every advert you see will utilize random brand identity triggers and humor to get us to pay attention. What is wrong with this is that people end up buying products simply because they remember the advert, and not necessarily because they have been given direct, clear information about the product or service. Directness is simple: we marketers need to get back to “telling it like it is” instead of hyping up our businesses. The public need to be

informed and empowered. The Grace of Directness allows that to happen.

Grace #5: Transparency

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Deception”. Deception in marketing is rife, but is sometimes extremely subtle. In the book, I give many examples of how language and imagery are often used in a deceptive way in marketing, where technically (and legally) the message is “true”, but the unconscious message we perceive is untrue. Transparency literally means “to shine light through”. When we are Transparent in marketing and in life, we are not merely being honest, but we are also allowing the true intention behind our thoughts, words and deeds to be seen and heard clearly. When we walk in Transparency, both in business and in life, we are walking in the Essence of who we really are.

Grace #6: Abundance

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Scarcity”. The chapter on Scarcity in the book is one of the biggest, because it’s simply such a massive topic. Scarcity marketing is all around us, and it appears in so many forms, from limited-time offers to the various kinds of “obsolescence” used to incite us to buy beyond our needs or means. Abundance, on the other hand, is the fundamental belief that there is enough for all—when we are living in rhythm with the planet. It is our natural state of being. If we operate our business from the fundamental belief in lack or Scarcity, we will always bring Scarcity strategies into our marketing. The irony is that Scarcity begets Scarcity. In other words, if we operate from a Scarcity mentality, we are likely to create the very Scarcity we most fear because the end result will be over-consumption. Over-consumption is destroying both our economy and the ecological balance of our natural world. But if we operate from a fundamental belief in Abundance, we will not bring such fear and anxiety into our marketing, and over-consumption will be a thing of the past.

Grace #7: Collaboration

This is the “antidote” to the “Deadly Sin of Competition”. Many people have the false notion that competition is necessary to create healthy economies and stronger societies. But this is largely a myth and has no foundation in Nature whatsoever. While I believe in “free enterprise”, this is not the same thing as Competition. In the book, I cite many studies that have proved how Competition diminishes creativity and innovation. When we conduct our businesses or our lives with a competitive mindset, we not only reduce our own performance, but we also reduce the support we receive from others. On the other hand, Collaboration always results in something greater than the sum of its parts. Every single marketing campaign I have produced is based upon Collaboration. The permaculture of the world is actually one giant, interdependent Collaboration. We’ve been brought up in a competitive world, but the more connected we become via technologies like social media, the more we see that Collaboration is the way we perform best.

Emotionally, Financially and Legally for a Parent’s Death launches on Amazon on
Tuesday November 15, 2011.

Author Carolyn A. Brent, M.B.A. is a former clinical educational manager in the
pharmaceutical industry. She is an avid activist and advocate working with the U.S. Congress
for the purpose of creating change to protect seniors and veterans from financial and medical
abuse. She has appeared on many local and national TV and radio shows, and is a sought-after
keynote speaker.

Yesterday, Carolyn visited Andrew Mondia at http://www.andyinspire.com/special-guest-
writers/why-wait-a-new-book-by-carolyn-a-brent-interview where they talked about the role
itself, family involvement and death.

Today, I’d like to share with you a recent interview I had with Carolyn when I got to ask her
some questions on her story, work and importance of crucial conversation. I hope you enjoy it.

——-

Allison Maslan: What is your personal story that led you to write this book?

Carolyn A. Brent: Through struggling with the legal, medical, financial, and familial issues
that come up when adult children handle such matters poorly (whether due to denial or to
strife), I discovered there were no books on what needs to be covered and planned for, written
from the perspective of siblings. Siblings have special needs at such times and, ideally, can be
caregivers. I’ve gone on radio and television. I’ve worked to pass new laws in Congress. Now
I’ve written Why Wait?

Allison Maslan: What is your work with members of congress to help change legislation?

Carolyn A. Brent: Currently, I am working with both to the United States Congress and
State, toward making the Federal Government and State officials responsible for upholding
the decisions and elder person have made about the appointment of a financial fiduciary and
medical representative, in the event of their disability and protecting those whom they select.
My goal in life is to empower caregivers and their family members with knowledge of possible
challenges they might face together while caring for an aging parent.

Allison Maslan: Why is it important to have crucial emotional conversations with parents,
siblings and other family members?

Carolyn A. Brent: Why Wait? is designed to guide you through a series of crucial
conversations with your aging parent (or parents), and with your siblings, so that you and
your family will be well prepared for your parent’s end-of-life physical, mental, and emotional
challenges and ultimate death.

It is important to have a one-on-one with your parent, as well as in conjunction with your
siblings. Siblings also need to be able to communicate well with one another. It is best to

Tip #3

Have you ever had a big lofty goal or dream for your business or your life? You put a lot of energy toward it, made great headway, yet because of this big picture focus, you lost momentum in the important day-to-day projects and responsibilities, causing major overwhelm and chaos?

Or do you feel like you are stuck spinning in the short-term goals and projects, getting stuff done, yet only making it month to month without the potential for the big time growth?

Your diagnosis: Too much focus on either the short-term or long-term goals.
The remedy: You need to focus on both.

In order for you to grow as an entrepreneur, you need to have a vision for the next level in your business. You need to have a creative, strategic plan in place that is developing and moving you toward higher levels of achievement and success. Maybe you are working on the newest widget that will take the tech world by storm? Or maybe you are so close to discovering the cure for baldness and plan to add it to your savvy hair product line? This idea development, what I refer to as ‘The Magic’ in business, is crucial for your expansion in your marketplace. At the same time, if you only focus on the long-term, the Big Kahuna, you will begin to lose traction in your day-to-day business needs, such as cash flow to pay your office expense and staff. Not good.

I am a true entrepreneur. A trailblazer of sorts as I have built 9 of my own companies and mentored hundreds of others to do the same. In my own journey, it took me a while to really understand the importance of this concept. My deepest passion is helping people find their true calling and guide them to express their gifts through a successful business. One of the important rules you must understand in Business 101 is that your entrepreneurial entity needs to turn a profit. If it’s not, it won’t be long for this world, even if you have invented the miracle cure to wrinkles. So keep your eye on the dream and the pulse during each business day. It can often feel like a juggling act, but with practice, you will become a gifted, profitable and high-flying juggler.

This is one of the reasons I invented my web-based software, The Interactive Life Coach, www.InteractiveLifeCoach.com.

I wanted my clients to have a fun, inspiring and easy-to-use tool that would help them create their beautiful Big Picture Visions, make them easy to attain by breaking them down into baby steps I call “Mini Feats” and at the same time help people continue to keep the steady business flowing in on a daily basis.

Keep moving forward and don’t lose focus on any goal, short- or long-term. YOU deserve to suceed!

Can you relate to this scenario? A potential partner comes along that has some of the qualities you desire, but there are some glaring differences that raise those tell tale ‘red flags’ right from the beginning. In my own life, I often thought that if I could blend a little bit of Jerry and a bit of Dennis, I would have to perfect partner. Instead I would get together with Jerry, and spend time wondering why he wasn’t like Dennis! This is what we call that fateful, yet common faux pas, ‘Settling’.

I have many clients that come to me complaining about their relationships, and when we break down the issues, it is apparent that one or both individuals have settled for one reason or another. These are the common beliefs that circulate in the mind when we settle:

“ There probably is no one better out there, so even though he forgets my birthday and criticizes me all the time, it is easier just to stay.

“I would probably not attract anyone better so I should just stay even though I am so lonely.”

“There is no such thing as a soul mate or ideal match”

“She is only mean to me a few times a week.”

“If she would stop drinking, she would be a wonderful partner.”

“Maybe he will change if I just keep trying.”

“I get so frustrated that she doesn’t share my interests. Oh, well. I guess I can give up enjoying the outdoors.”

“I chose the wrong partner but I don’t want to deal with the upheaval. So I just get my intimate needs met outside of the relationship.”

I am not saying that a relationship cannot grow and thrive if every single aspect of both partners is not a match. It can work well if many other core elements and attractions are present. However, if you have to convince yourself why you really don’t need those elements that are important to you in your life, then you may be settling for your second, third, fourth or fifth best. I just know that from my own personal experience, and those of my clients, we can talk ourselves into situations that we know are wrong from the beginning because we feel, at a core level, that we either do not deserve someone better or that that person just does not exist.

What Are You Giving Up In Your Relationships?

Do you enjoy reading, but choose partners that prefer to watch television? Do you love boating, but you choose partners that dislike the water? Are you a romantic and you choose partners that think romance is, “Hey Baby, what’s for dinner?”

Make a list of the desires, needs, interests and philosophies that you tend to give up in relationships and regret later. By making a list of the things that are important to you in a relationship, you can start to be aware of your choices and actions. Then you can create new intentions for a relationship that fits you ideal picture.

What Inner Language Are You Projecting?

One of my coaching clients, Lisa, shared with me, “I am not acting needy. I am not clinging onto these relationships. What is the deal?” “Why is all this rejection happening?” Outwardly she was cool, calm and collected, and it was obvious that she was very independent in her career and completely capable of taking care of her child on her own. Nevertheless, the energy of her unconscious little girl that longed for love, was screaming out loudly and desperately.

To be able to finally draw in the love and relationship you desire, you must first recognize what energy or behavior you are projecting to the world. What is your inner language expressing without saying anything at all? Get into a quiet space, and ask yourself straight out, “What is my inner language saying?.” Listen to your inner voice and the answers will come. Do not candy coat the answer. The more honest you are with yourself, the more powerful and positive the change will be.

Your Soul Mate Needs an Open Door

Is it possible that your soul mate has not arrived because there has not been room for him to enter? You may think that you are open and ready, but is your heart wide open, too?

If you have experienced pain in past relationships, you may carry an amour around your heart in an effort to keep it safe and protected. The truth is that the more you close your heart, the less love you will receive, and that will only cause you to close your heart even more. This is all well and good if you are content in living alone. But if you desire love, and I believe you do, then it is time to unveil your beautiful, passionate, lovely heart. Just because you were hurt in the past, does not mean it needs to happen again. Especially if you are taking good notes from past mistakes! Do not continue to bring your past into the future. It is time to attract what you deserve. True love.

Open Your Heart to Receive that WOW Love

Get into a quiet space and take some deep breathes until you are feeling calm and relaxed. If soft music and candles help you get into the mood, do what you please. Now on your inhale, visualize a golden light coming into your body from the crown of your head and then melting down to your toes. Feel it as the warmth and sparkling light nurtures all of your organs and systems of your body. After a few minutes, focus on your heart area. Now put your right hand over your heart and continue to inhale and exhale this golden light. Then on the inhale, only focus on your heart area and visualize a soft pink loving energy coming into your heart. Feel your heart opening fully and allowing this pink energy to fill it completely and fully with love. Continue to inhale and exhale deeply. After another minute or two, visualize the pink energy turning to red, passionate, vibrant energy that is continuing to fill up your ever expanding, open heart. Now feel that love and passion spread from your heart to the rest of your body, up to your head and down through your torso and legs, and through the bottom of your toes. Feel how wonderful, light, free and uplifting this love energy feels. Continue to experience the opening of your heart. Now I want you to expand this loving energy inside your heart and the rest of your body, out to the world and to the Universe. See it expanding for miles and miles. Oh, how lucky the world is to experience your love. Now feel it coming right back into your heart and hold it there. Your heart is now open and ready to receive love.

Repeat this at least twice a week to continue healing and opening your heart so that you may receive all the love you deserve.

“Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies” ~Aristotle.

As a life and business strategist, I take my clients through a process to find their true calling so they can turn it into a business. Or we work to expand the business they already have while making it much more fun on a daily basis. Once we get clarity on the direction, I help them get creative and design what I call, their Big Picture Vision, which is a window into how they want their business and other aspects of their life to unfold.

Most people get very bold during this phase and dream big, which is what I like to see, and honestly what is necessary to take your reality up several notches. They get very enthusiastic about growing a fantastically profitable and fulfilling business, so we put the plan and structure into place.

Then it is time to take this big, bold dream and put it into action, because at this point, it is all fantasy until you take it out of your head and start moving toward it. I call this the “Jumping In With Both Feet” phase. Invariably, they begin to get scared and ask to take it slow and test the waters instead of diving in wholeheartedly. With the best intentions, they might say, “maybe I’m not ready for that kind of success”, or “I’m not sure if what I have to offer is valuable.” They start talking themselves off the ledge saying, “I cannot spend the money right now because I am feeling stuck financially.”

I am here to tell you, that playing it safe doesn’t work in business if you want big results. (Same goes for athletics.) To get unstuck, you need to let go of the training wheels and jump higher than you have before. Try sort of diving off a diving board. Can you say, “belly flop”? Just like creating a successful relationship, you cannot experience true love unless you open your heart fully.

So many people hold on tightly trying not to fail, yet to be wildly successful, you need to jump in knowing you will succeed even if you are not sure how it is all going to come together. An entrepreneur goes after his/her mission because he is determined to make his dream a huge reality no matter what, because the alternative is living in regret or wondering what could have been. To a visionary, this is a slow death.

My father is the quintessential entrepreneur at 81. His secrets: He lives with passion, has an ability to think big and has taught me to say yes to my dreams even when I had no idea where the financial resources would come from or who would help me. At the prime of my dad’s life he ran the largest privately owned women’s clothing chain in the US. He did not accomplish this from taking small steps and waiting for the right time to appear. Instead, he created his own opportunities and went for them full on.

When you say ‘yes’ to your dreams, something magical starts to happen. If you proclaim your vision to the Universe, believe in it at a soul level, and then jump in with both feet, somehow the world rearranges itself to support your intention. The money suddenly appears, you meet the connection you needed while standing in line at the grocery store, and the opportunities start falling at your feet.

So tell me, what are you waiting for? If you don’t want to be at the same place next New Years wishing things were different, it’s time to jump in and make it happen. Hire the coach, get the support, invest in yourself and take the bold leap. You will be so happy you did.

Allison Maslan, CEO, Blast Off Life and Business Coaching was named one of the top 50 women entrepreneurs who inspire by Self Made Magazine. She helps her clients build or expand their dream into a profitable, fun and meaningful business.

In my 20’s, I ran a full- service advertising agency while raising my young daughter. I was on the fast track to success, but running myself into the ground for all the wrong reasons. “What was the problem? Was it being a mom? No. Was it the high demands of the business?” That was tough, but not the main problem. I learned the hard way that even though I was successful at something, did not mean that it was my passion, or that I had to do it. I was receiving pressure from all sides to stay because outwardly it was going so well. Until inwardly, I crashed and burned. The good thing for me was that this set me on a path of healing, and search to find my purpose. And I never looked back. I made a decision early on that I would only involve myself with work and activities that I was passionate about. As a life and career coach, I often hear, “ I want something more, but I just don’t know what.”

So I developed the Blast Off !Dream Career Questionnaire. It can help spark some ideas to help you tap into your passion to brainstorm ideas for your own dream career.

(This exercise can be done on Interactive Life Coaching Software, Blastation, at www.InteractiveLifeCoach.com.

Instructions: After answering each question, re-read your answers. Do you see a common theme arise?

For instance, if many of your answers lean toward creative endeavors, you would most likely thrive in a career or business that utilizes your artistic touch, such as landscape design, interior design, cooking, fine art or graphic design. If you see travel dominating your answers, a business in importing and exporting of foreign goods, an excursion director or editor of your own travel magazine may be the perfect brainstorms for your dream career or business. Your answers to the following 10 questions are clues to your brightest path as they will reflect your true inner purpose and help you resonate with a dream career that expresses your deepest values, hopes, loves and desires.
1. As a child, what did you dream of being when you grew up?
A ballerina, doctor, teacher, magician, astronaut, veterinarian or a scientist? Our younger fascinations hold clues to what we may be naturally drawn to as adults. As a child, it was much easier to drop into your imagination because you most likely did not have any interference from limiting thoughts or negative beliefs. From our childlike perspective our beliefs were more like, “this is what I am going to be and that is that!” If you dreamed of being a teacher, doctor or joining the Peace Corps, it could mean that you have a natural tendency toward helping people. An engineer or scientist is a path for someone with an analytical style. A pilot, traveler or ballerina would be more experiential; and a painter, actress or gardener would have more artistic leanings.

2. What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities — in the present and in the past, and why?
Hobbies are our true expression of fun and creativity. We are naturally drawn to these activities because they excite our physical, mental and emotional nature. Hobbies are an extension of our inner voice and are great clues to our passions and potential dream career.

For instance, my client Ann Marie’s favorite pastime is to indulge in anything that has to do with history, like going to museums, reading historical novels, listening to elderly people tell their life stories and watching historical documentaries. She even received her college degree in history. She thought all she could do was teach history, which did not excite Ann Marie at all. Instead, I helped her launch her own dream business called My Visual History, where she produces beautiful mini-documentaries of elderly people sharing their life stories. Now Ann Marie is truly living her passion and making a living at it, too!

Here are some examples of hobbies:

Ages 3-10: Dolls, jumping rope, exploring, riding my bike, camping, baking, playing with my dog, coloring.

Ages 10-20: Science, swimming, dancing, singing, reading, board games, hiking, tennis, painting, being with friends, rock climbing, sewing.

Ages 20 to Present: Yoga, meditation, writing, public speaking, scuba diving, going to museums, reading historical novels, animal rescue, decorating.

3. What things have you always wanted to do, but were afraid to try? We often create a million reasons that keep us from facing our fears, and ultimately our brightest lives. We often fear change or the unknown, yet in reality the hardest part is those first few steps. Once you have inched across the threshold, your new and fulfilling dream career becomes so much easier to grasp. The fear will begin to dissolve the more you practice taking small steps of action. I call them Mini Feats.

List several interesting, stimulating, or meaningful activities or ideas related to your personal life or career that have sparked your interest, but you’ve been afraid to try, such as scuba diving, writing a book, living in a foreign country, opening your own business, rescuing animals, producing a movie.

List all your business or personal desires here, no matter how silly, risky or scary they may seem:

4. What do you do or have you done in your life that makes you the happiest? What is it about this that you enjoy so much? What does it mean to you? When you are in a state of joy or bliss, you are completely in the present moment and in total alignment with your true self. When you’re congruent with your passions, intention and actions, success is sure to follow.

Happy moment examples: Sitting in my backyard reading under the oak tree, spending time with my kids, embracing animals, competing in a track race, being surrounded by nature, shopping at the flea market, in the creative zone of writing, painting or singing.

5. What is a cause that you could get behind? Is there a cause or charity you’re passionate about? There may be some career ideas that will support and reflect the charities or philanthropic services that have a place in your heart.

One of my client’s, Connie D., worked at mortgage company for several years. She was good at her job, but it was not fulfilling to her. In fact, she began dreading going to work. Her true passion was volunteering at Hospice and helping the families process their grief. It was in this work that she felt most alive, purposeful and of value. I coached Connie to shift her favorite cause into her own business called Break Through Grief Recovery. Now, she is thriving on all levels because she turned her favorite cause into her dream career as a Certified Grief Facilitator.

6. What personal qualities do you hold most important in your life? If you can incorporate some of the most important qualities of your inner and outer character and your life into your work, you will be truly living a life of value and purpose.

My client, Kenneth, loves parasailing, so he is creating a charity that will help trauma victims heal through this sport. He has found a way to combine his passion and talent to give back to a cause he feels strongly about.

If you are more social and extraverted, you may be best suited in a business where you are surrounded by the energy of several clients or peers throughout your day. If you are a more quiet and introverted type, one-on-one business meetings, such as consulting, may be a better fit.

7. What are your strengths and talents? By tapping into the special abilities that you already own, you can translate them into a dream career without spending too much time or money investing in new skills.

My client, Connie M., has always thrived on fitness. In addition, she loved spending time working with children. In one of our sessions, she recalled feeling frustrated during her pregnancy that none of the fitness trainers she encountered knew how to train pregnant women safely. We tapped into this desire as I helped her create a business called Life Fitness 4 Me. Connie M. became certified to train pre-natal women and children in fitness, and she loves it! We found a way to combine her passion for fitness and children into a prosperous business that fits her perfectly.

List all of your talents. Even the ones you take for granted, such as being a good multi-tasker or a good listener. These are huge assets in the business world!

8. What movies and books have inspired you over the years and why? We are often drawn to books and movies that reflect our personalities, interests, and inner being. For example, adventure books may reflect your interest in excitement or change. If you are artistic or philosophical, you may be drawn to foreign films and musicals. Movies like “Tales of a Female Nomad,” “Avatar” and “Eat Pray Love” all have an independent, spiritual message. If these are your taste, you may be drawn to a career with an outdoor setting rather than being office bound.

9. What does success mean to you? Success can have many connotations and represent different things to different people. Is success about having lots of money in the bank, having an accomplished career or creating a beautiful garden?

Write your ideal picture of success.

10. If you had plenty of money at your disposal to invest in your own dream career, what kind of business would you start? Maybe a greeting card company, yoga center, music production studio, voice over business, dog training company, hair salon, event planning, fitness trainer, furniture design company, wedding photographer? Often the fear of not having enough capital, or accepting poverty beliefs, can dissuade people from reaching for their dreams. Just by taking the step of writing your dreams on paper, you are clearly stating to the world, “Yes, I am going to create this business.”

By proclaiming your certainty of desired creation and following it up with action on a regular basis, the opportunities will begin to fall into your life experience. Keep your eyes open. Don’t let the financial aspect stop you, because there will always be a solution if you actively look for it. The secret is to profess your dream and then start taking desired action toward it every today. Take baby steps. You may begin to receive checks in the mail from a long lost relative. Stranger things have happened!

My client, Linda, always dreamed of having her own clothing store. She never thought it was possible due to financial limitations. I showed her how she could create her dream business online with a lot less financial investment. Now, she not only loves her business, Heavenspennies.com, she has made enough extra money to send her two kids to college.

Upon completion of Blast Off! Dream Career Questionnaire look at each of your answers. Do you see a common theme throughout? This is a very good clue for your winning dream career. For instance, if all your answers have to do with creative activities, you may fit with a career in the arts, such as landscape design, interior design, fine art or graphic design. If you see travel dominating your answers, a career as a travel agent, excursion director, or editor of a travel magazine may be the fuel for your inner passion. These answers will reflect your inner purpose. A dream career that expresses your values, hopes, loves and dreams is a winning recipe for life of passion and meaning.

I just watched the movie Secretariat. If you have not seen it,

I highly recommend it. The story is about much more than

an amazing racehorse.

Secretariat’s owner, Penny Chenery, was pressured from all sides

to sell her father’s horse to save the farm. Her own brother urged

her to give up due to financial pressures. Her husband felt she was

taking too much time away from the family to follow the calling

of her heart.

But Secretariat’s fire rekindled a spirit inside of Penny that she had

not felt in years. She fought against all odds and stood up for what

she believed in. Penny refused to back down. She refused to quit.

Well, we all know what happened. Secretariat won The Triple Crown

and still holds the world’s record for the fastest 1 1/2 mile race.

Why am I sharing this?

Because it’s this kind of spirit that keeps me going day in and out.

It’s this kind of spirit that got me through as a single mom raising

a teenage daughter. It’s this kind of spirit that keeps me impassioned

about my work as a homeopath and a life and business coach.

I truly believe we are all born with a gift. And I’ve come to

understand that my special gift is an ability to see the gifts in others

and inspire them to their greatness. Yes, you all have greatness inside

of you.

And I don’t believe it is about how much money you make, or

even what you have accomplished. It is about finding that truth within

yourself, whatever that is for you, then embracing this spirit with all

of your might and standing up for yourself as if to say,“ Yes, this is me.

This is my passion and this is what I stand for.” Then give your truth

every ounce of inner fire that you’ve got, so that you don’t look

back on your life and say, “Why didn’t I?.”

Call me a dreamer. But I believe dreams come true if you

hold the vision and sincerely go after them.
